Buyer’s FAQ
How long from the time I order until delivery?
Delivery typically takes 3-7 business days if the container is available at a nearby depot. If you need it sooner, we will make every effort to accommodate your request, but we recommend placing your order early to ensure a smooth delivery schedule. Delivery times for reserved stock may vary due to shipping delays.
How much space is required for delivery?
For a 20-foot container, you’ll need a minimum of 60 feet of straight-line clearance. For a 40-foot or 45-foot container, the required clearance is 100 feet. The gate width should be at least 10 feet, and there should be no tree branches lower than 14 feet. More clearance may be necessary at the drop site to allow for the raising of the truck bed.
What type of truck is used to deliver a storage container?
Containers are delivered using tilt-bed trucks and trailers, designed to place your container directly onto the ground. The truck bed is raised until the container touches the ground, then the truck moves forward, allowing the container to slide off gently. Our skilled drivers can position the container exactly where you want it.
If you have the equipment to unload the container yourself, like a forklift or crane, talk to your sales representative for possible discounts, especially if the delivery is a long distance.
Is any site preparation necessary?
The surface where you place the container should be level, smooth, and firm. We recommend using pavers, concrete blocks, or railroad ties under each corner to raise the container slightly off the ground. This allows airflow underneath and makes it easier to move the container later if needed.
What payment types do you accept?
We accept full payment before delivery through various methods: personal and business checks, wire and ACH payments, bank deposits, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Zelle.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, we offer a 5% discount for senior citizens, military personnel (active and retired), and federal government employees using the following coupon codes at checkout:
- SENIOR: 5% off your order
- MILITARY: 5% off your order
- GOVT: 5% off your order
If you don’t qualify for these discounts, you can still receive a 2.9% discount by using cash-like payment methods such as checks, ACH, wire transfers, or bank deposits.
Can anyone own a shipping container? Do I need to register it?
Anyone can own a shipping container, and there is no need for ownership transfer or registration. However, it’s a good idea to check with your local county to ensure shipping containers are allowed in your area. The container’s serial number (BIC code) is used for international shipping and storage identification.
Can you add a man door or roll-up door?
Unfortunately, we don’t offer container modifications since we sell wholesale containers directly from shipping ports and depots. However, shipping containers are easy to modify on your own, so you can start a DIY project if desired!
My container doors won’t close properly. How do I fix this?
Ensure your container is placed on level ground, as an uneven surface can cause the container to twist, which will prevent the doors from closing properly. If your site is not level, you can level the container after delivery. Here’s a helpful video on how to level a shipping container: How to Level a Shipping Container.
Can I buy my own shipping container?
Yes, you can purchase your own shipping container through companies like Blue Sky Depot or via online marketplaces like eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist. When buying, consider the container’s size, condition, location, permits, and possible modifications for your intended use.
Can I buy a shipping container direct?
Yes, you can buy directly from a shipping container supplier. It’s important to choose a reputable company that offers transparent pricing, good customer reviews, and quality containers. Suppliers can guide you in selecting the right container for your needs and offer shipping, delivery, and modification services.

Can I put a shipping container on my land?

Also, think about security features and modifications that may be necessary. Costs will vary depending on location and the specific work required.
How long do shipping containers last?

Are shipping containers waterproof?
Yes, shipping containers are designed to be waterproof (WWT) and are made of high-grade steel with welded seams to keep water out. However, the level of waterproofing can vary depending on the container’s age and condition. To ensure proper waterproofing, make sure the container is in good condition, and the doors form a tight seal.
